Paige Patterson
Grade 11 & Grade 12
As a high school counselor, my goal is to help students discover their potential. I worked in the “real world” for fifteen years before switching to school counseling and enjoy using that background to help students connect high school experiences to their post-high school life. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, my Master of Education from DePaul University, and my Master of Arts in Counseling from Western Michigan. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, hiking and spending time with my family and friends. I look forward to working with you this year!

Stephanie Taylor
Grade 9 & Grade 10
Hello! I am Stephanie Taylor. I am excited to be one of the school counselors at Portland High School. Before obtaining my masters and becoming a school counselor I worked with youth through juvenile facilities & group homes, as a counselor for DV & SA victims, as a mentor with community mental health, and even worked with adults with special needs to obtain employment skills. I attended GVSU for my undergraduate degree in Psychology & Special Education and I earned my master’s in Mental Health & School Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2014. I am married with 4 children. My husband and I were foster parents and have adopted our children through the foster care system. We have a dog, a cat and lots of chickens. We live pretty local and our children attend Portland Public Schools.
I am here to help students with problem solving, managing feelings, setting goals, feeling good about themselves, school, learning how to make healthy decisions, and lots more! If you feel that you are struggling with anything from school to home to after school life please reach out!!
I am here to help parents with exploring ways to help your child succeed, improve parent and child communications, referrals for community resources, understanding developing changes of childhood along with specific needs, and supplying reference materials. If you need anything, always feel free to reach out. I am here to help you to help your students succeed!
